Geriatric Services

  • Falls Assessment
  • Home Safety Assessment
  • General De-Conditioning
  • Mobility Assessment
  • Balance Assessment

Developed from our experience in providing physiotherapy to seniors in long-term care facilities,  retirement homes, and home care, our geriatric service is designed in keeping with Ontario’s approach of independent living and de-institutionalization.

With today’s complexity in our health care system, it is important to act pro-actively and prevent catastrophic injuries from incidents such as falls, which often leads to admission into institutions such as hospitals, convalescence care, or long-term care facility.

Our geriatric service includes thorough assessment to identify potential physical risk for falls such as poor balance, weakness, general de-conditioning, or decreased upright tolerance.

Depending on status of client,   our complete assessment may require visit to your home for purpose of assessing home safety and gross motor function (i.e. bed mobility,  transfers, toileting,  & bathing, etc.)

Our geriatric services differ from physiotherapy and occupational therapy offered by Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) in that not only do we provide assessment and consultation,  we retain the capacity and expertise to provide treatment on an individualized basis.     As such, our services can either be stand-alone  or serve as complement to services offered through CCAC.
